Cowboy Bike Project - Part 1  10/29/05
This is "Cowboy's" bike, he lives in St.Louis so we are going to post the bike project as we go so he can see the progress. Above are the
before pics.  It is a 2000 Sportster 883. When Cowboy purchased the bike it had been previously repaired after a deer accident and also
had a 1200 conversion added.  So, plans for this bike are: 200 Fat tire, wide glide front with a 6 degree rake. Different seat and handle
bars. Lower the bike. Fat tank. Wider wheel/tire in the front. different brake, running light and turn signals all around. Then the all new
metal topped off with a new paint job.
So first thing is , THE TEAR DOWN!  (I hope this isn't too painful for ya Cowboy!)
The things that you find when you are
tearing down... the fender struts were
extremely off!   Throttle cable was
damaged.
Cowboy, we discovered a disconnected vacuum line, this
might be the reason for your poor performance issue we
discussed.

As of 11/09/05 the bike is even more torn down. The front end is off and all wheels are off. After this weekend we will have more
updated pics. We have alot of the new parts already, waiting on new bushings for the new swing arm. (They should be in Thurs.
or Fri.)  Also waiting on new bearings and races for the triple tree. (The old bearings were completely dry, but getting new ones
anyways is always a good idea.) Meanwhile, because Cowboy gave me the freedom to do the paint how ever I wanted, I've been
online researching to get inspired for his paint scheme. I have alot of ideas racing around in my head, but haven't narrowed it
down yet. After I get the body parts prepped for paint is when it will happen. ( It's an artist thing!) So, when the parts come in
the end of this week, this weekend we can get the front end done and start the swing arm. I'm so excited and can't wait to see
this bike when it is done! I know you are too Cowboy and we are trying everything to get this done for your X-Mas present to
yourself!  Cause you deserve it!! So rock on and tell everyone at Shooters we miss them and said Hi!!! Do a Bomb for us!!
